RC Model Electric Cars Tuning

RC Model Elektro Cars Tuning

Originally the RC electric cars are equipped with a mechanical cruise control, normal battery and electric motor, size 540. Tuning of the RC model electric cars is explained here:

Roller bearing

The original slide bearings should be replaced with roller bearings so that friction loss in RC electric cars is kept low.

Battery

For the model electric cars special batteries are available, with low internal resistance and a high current output, and without any voltage loss. Higher battery voltage means more power for the electric motors.

Cruise control

The electronic cruise control has great advantages over the mechanical cruise control. The RC electric engines can be accelerated more rapidly and the breaking is faster because the electronic cruise control regulates the energy consumption from the battery more efficiently and no power is lost. Thus the battery last longer.

Tuning electric engines

Various tuning engines are available and they are differentiated by the number of coils, also called turns. Engines with few turns achieve higher speeds, but consume more energy and have a low torque. Electric engines with many turns have a high torque, consume less energy and thus achieve a lower speed. So that the tuning engines run in the correct speed range optimal sprocket wheels must be fitted.

If the sprocket wheels are too large this impacts the performance, the RC car accelerates slowly, cruise control and battery overheat quickly. Sprocket wheels that are too small lead to wheel spin and lower top speed.
